AI Hug Video with Anime & Cartoon Characters
An AI hug video is a short clip in which two figures from two separate pictures move together and hug, animated by an AI video model. Here one of those pictures can be a character instead of a photo: your own anime OC, a cartoon or 3D figure, a VTuber avatar or a drawn version of yourself. The tool supports two separate photos or drawings, and it generates real hug motion, not a two-photo slideshow.
Two separate pictures · generated hug motion · 5 or 10 s · 9:16 or 16:9 · from 23 credits (≈ $0.23)
Image 1 · Sets the scene
Your waist-up photo or a character. Its light and setting are used for the scene.

Two anime characters in winter coats and scarves stand side by side, turn to each other and settle into a close hug as snow falls. Both figures share one drawing style, so the whole clip stays anime.
At sunset beside a cherry tree, one smiles, the other reaches out, and they close the gap into a full hug: the reunion pattern of notice, step closer, embrace.
Two clay-style 3D characters by an old cinema and a red car greet each other, then hug. Stylized 3D figures with readable faces and clear arms give the model what a hug needs.
What this AI hug video generator makes: real motion, not a two-photo slideshow
Many “AI hug” templates only slide two pictures together or cross-fade between them. This tool sends both pictures to Seedance 2.0 as identity references and asks for one continuous shot in which both figures move, raise their arms and hold each other. You never have to paste them into one image first.
Image 1 is figure A and image 2 is figure B. They don’t have to be the same kind of picture: a photo of you and an anime drawing, two OC drawings, or a 3D render and a selfie are all valid inputs.

Which character pairs work for an AI character hug
The hug instructions are written for two figures with faces, arms and at least a waist-up body. That covers most anime, manga, cartoon and 3D characters, but not everything.
| Pair | What to upload | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| You + your anime character | Image 1: your waist-up photo. Image 2: the character, waist-up or full body, facing forward or at three-quarter. | The scene follows image 1, so a photo first gives a real-looking place; the character may keep its drawn look or drift toward realism. |
| Two original characters (OC × OC) | One character per picture, ideally in the same art style. | Matching styles keep the whole clip in one look, as in the snow example. |
| You + a cartoon version of yourself | Your selfie and a drawn or 3D avatar of you. | Give the two looks clearly different hair, colours or clothes so the model keeps them apart. |
| A VTuber avatar or mascot + a friend | A clean front render of the avatar with both arms in frame, plus the friend’s photo (with their OK). | Works like any pair; arms cut off by the frame edge make the hug harder. |
| Chibi or super-deformed characters | Usable, but tiny arms and oversized heads give the model little to hug with. | Expect stiff or odd arm placement; a regular-proportion drawing of the same character is safer. |
| Pets, animals, a tiger character | Not what the prompt is written for. | The prompt asks for two people with hands on shoulders or back, so an animal may be reshaped or move oddly. A humanoid (anthro) character fares better. |
Photo plus drawing: image 1 sets the look
The prompt places both figures “in a simple, softly lit setting inspired by image 1” and asks the model to keep each one’s own features, hair, body proportions and clothing. That makes the order of your two pictures the main control you have over style:
- Want a real-world scene with your character in it? Put your photo first.
- Want everything to look drawn? Put the character first, or use a drawn version of yourself so both pictures share one style.
- Two styles in one shot can blend: the character may pick up realistic skin and light, or you may come out slightly illustrated. The model decides how far; there is no style slider.
Use the optional direction line for one detail you care about, such as “she keeps her pink braid and blazer” or “he opens his arms first”. It can’t change the hug, the camera or the two identities.
Getting a character picture ready
- One character per picture. Crop a single pose out of a reference sheet or group illustration; extra figures can turn into a third person.
- Waist-up or full body with both arms visible. A head-only icon gives the model nothing to hug with.
- Face toward the viewer or at a three-quarter angle. Profile-only art makes the faces harder to keep apart once they touch.
- A plain or simple background. Speech bubbles, captions, signatures and logos on your art may be copied into the video, so remove them from your own file first.
- Transparent PNG art: place it on a flat background colour so the outline is clear.
- 300–6,000 px on each side, no wider than 2.5:1, JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB.
Whose characters can you use?
Use characters you own or have permission to use: your own OC, art you drew, a commission whose licence allows derivative videos, a mascot your company owns, or a character whose creator said yes. This site’s terms don’t allow characters, logos or works you have no right to use, which rules out hugging a well-known anime, game or film character taken from a screenshot.
The same terms cover people: no photos of minors, no celebrities or public figures, and anyone recognizable in a photo must have agreed. The video model can also refuse an input on its own safety check; when it does, the credits come back automatically.
How to make an AI hug video with a character
- Add the two pictures. Image 1 sets the setting and look, so put your photo first for a real scene or the character first for a drawn one. Tick the box confirming you may use both.
- Pick the hug and settings. Gentle (already close, they turn into a calm hug) or reunion (they notice each other, step closer and embrace). Then choose 5 or 10 seconds, 9:16 or 16:9, the model, resolution and sound.
- Generate and download. Credits are charged when the video starts and returned if it fails. Most clips take 1–5 minutes; download the MP4 when it’s ready.
The exact AI hug video prompt this tool sends (5 s, gentle, silent)
You can paste it into another two-reference video model such as Kling or Vidu. This page sends the same text, with the timings and the style line switched to match the options you pick.
Create a 5-second natural, affectionate hug video using exactly two uploaded identity-reference images. Image 1 defines person A; image 2 defines person B. Keep each person's own facial features, age, skin tone, hair, body proportions and clothing distinct throughout. Do not merge faces, swap identities or invent a third person. Place both people together in a simple, softly lit setting inspired by image 1. Match the lighting without changing either identity. Show both from at least the waist up with their arms visible. Use one steady eye-level medium shot, no cuts, zooms or photo transitions. Seconds 0–1.5: already standing close, they turn gently toward each other. Seconds 1.5–4: both slowly raise their arms and settle into a calm, comforting hug. Seconds 4–5: hold the hug with quiet breathing and a small smile; no dramatic gestures. Keep faces slightly offset at three-quarter angles so neither face passes through the other. Hands rest naturally on the shoulders or upper back, with no extra fingers, limbs or intersecting arms. No kissing, talking, fantasy transformations, angel wings, captions, logos or watermarks. Silent video, no music and no speech.

Hug, kiss or dance: what this tool won’t do
Search results mix “AI hug & kiss video” apps with hug generators. This tool only hugs: its prompt rules out kissing, talking, fantasy transformations, wings, captions and logos, so even a romantic pair ends in a hug and a small smile.
Want your photo dancing instead? Try the Say It Right dance generator or browse the AI video templates.
Where the AI hug video trend came from
AI hug videos became a TikTok trend in late 2024, when people fed two separate photos, often themselves and a relative who had died, into image-to-video tools such as Luma’s Dream Machine and posted the hug that came out. Many hug tools now also accept an anime or cartoon character as one of the two pictures.

AI hug video FAQ
Can I make an AI hug video with an anime character?
Yes, if it’s a character you own or may use. Upload your photo as image 1 and the character as image 2 (or the other way round for a drawn scene), choose a gentle or reunion hug, and the tool generates a 5- or 10-second hug. Waist-up character art with both arms visible gives the cleanest embrace.
Can I hug a famous anime or game character?
Not on this site. Its terms don’t allow characters you have no right to use, and the model may refuse well-known characters anyway. Use your own OC, a commission you hold rights to, or a character whose creator has given permission.
Why did my character turn realistic, or why do I look drawn?
The model puts both figures into one scene based on image 1 and renders them in a single shot, so two styles can blend. Put the picture whose style you want first, use pictures in a matching style, and add one line such as “keep her flat anime shading” in the optional direction.
Is there a free online AI hug generator with no watermark?
On this site the examples are free to watch, but generating needs purchased credits; sign-up gifts don’t cover video. Accounts with a purchase get no site watermark, the cheapest clip is 23 credits (about $0.23), and failed videos are refunded.
Is it a real hug or a slideshow like some CapCut templates?
A real generated hug. Both pictures go to Seedance 2.0 as references and the model animates one continuous shot of the two figures moving together and holding each other; nothing is cross-faded.
Can my pet or an animal character join the hug?
Animals are a poor fit: the prompt is written for two people with arms, so a pet may change shape or not hug convincingly. A humanoid character with arms works much better than a four-legged one.
What if the faces melt together or the video fails?
A failed video refunds its credits automatically. Against blending faces, use pictures with clearly different hair, colours or outfits, faces at three-quarter rather than profile, and one figure per picture; a 5-second gentle hug gives the faces less time to drift.
